The Story

Born in Houston, Texas I am the youngest of 6 in my family. Being the son of a entrepreneur/commercial artist I've been around business and graphic production environments all of my life. These days you can say I am following in my father’s footsteps. Back in 1986 I got my first taste of real graphic production after my Father stopped working with the obsolete Compu-graphic devices he used for years then replaced them with a Macintosh, Laserwriter Plus and told me "you will be doing my typesetting with these devices". Yes, it was a Mac Plus with a whopping 2Mb of ram, a 20Mb External HD and a LaserWriter Plus, pretty nice back in the day. While attending Harlingen High School and taking typing class, I had virtually no computer experience. I learned how to layout on PageMaker 1.0 and created images in Aldus Freehand. So you could say I cut my teeth on that computer at my dad’s print shop (Hieroglyphics) in South Texas. That was the start of a new challenge for me, one that I do appreciate till this day.

Through the years so much has changed. Getting married, joining the military, serving in the Gulf War, raising children and jumping careers, I managed to get myself through The Art Institute of Houston in 1993. With that out of the way, I was able to pursue all the challenges of Corporate America with more confidence. Working in the graphic industry from advertising to print production has taught me the importance of workflow in art related environments and helped me become the person I am today.
